# Advance Queue

POST https://api.taktoria.com/api/v1/dory/events/{eventId}/queue/next
Content-Type: application/json

The presenter's **Next**: finish with the question on screen
(`currentId`, marked ANSWERED with `markAnswered`) and put the next
approved one in the room's order on the big screen. Next is worked
out before the current one is marked, so it is the question the room
saw coming. Answers with the question now showing, without one when
the queue is empty and the screen is left clear. Each call moves on
again. The body is optional. Needs `questions:write`.

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — Bearer authentication of the form `Bearer <token>`, where token is your auth token.

## Servers

- `https://api.taktoria.com/api/v1` (Production, default)
- `http://localhost:3000/api/v1` (Local)

## Request

### Path parameters

- `eventId` (string, required)

### Body (application/json)

This endpoint expects an AdvanceQueueRequest.

- `currentId` (string, optional) — The question on screen now, from `GET /queue`'s `current`. Next is the question after it in the room's order. An id not in this event is ignored.
- `markAnswered` (boolean, optional) — Mark `currentId` ANSWERED on the way past. False unless sent.

## Response

### 200

- `question` (Question, optional) — The question now on the big screen; absent when the queue is empty and the screen clear.

## Errors

### 403 Forbidden Error

Refused, and `error.code` says why. On an app's write endpoints, a signed-in session is refused `viewer_only` when the person is a Viewer of the app (they read it, and change nothing in it), and `seat_required` without a seat on it; a key is never either. Beyond those: `admin_required` when the change is an admin's (an app admin's for an app's admin powers, a workspace admin's for the workspace's settings), `forbidden` when the person may not change this one thing, `read_only_session` for a change only a key makes, `person_required` for what only a signed-in person does through their own account elsewhere (exporting a LaunchCal artifact to their docs tool), which a key cannot, `insufficient_scope` for a key without the scope, and `google_sign_in_required` for a session the workspace's Google rule turns away. Nothing was done.

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 404 Not Found Error

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 422 Validation Error

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 429 Too Many Requests Error

Rate limited (`rate_limited`): the key, the signed-in person, the workspace or an expensive endpoint's own budget is used up for now. `Retry-After` says how many seconds to wait, and `details` names the `policy`, its `limit`, `windowSeconds` and `retryAfter`. Every answer to an authenticated request carries the IETF `RateLimit-Policy` and `RateLimit` headers, so a client can slow down before it gets this. Nothing was done; wait and send it again. See "Rate limits".

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

## Types

### Question

- `id` (string, required)
- `eventId` (string, required)
- `body` (string, required)
- `status` (enum, required)
  - Allowed values: `PENDING`, `APPROVED`, `ANSWERED`, `DISMISSED`
- `isAnonymous` (boolean, required)
- `highlighted` (boolean, required) — On the presenter screen. Only one question in an event is highlighted at a time, and never a dismissed one.
- `upvoteCount` (integer, required)
- `createdAt` (datetime, required)
- `updatedAt` (datetime, required)
- `answerText` (string, optional)
- `answeredAt` (datetime, optional) — When it moved into ANSWERED. Kept while it stays answered, so a second answer does not move it; cleared when it moves out.
- `editedAt` (datetime, optional) — Set when the asker rewrote it after the room had voted.
- `asker` (Asker, optional) — Who asked. Absent on an anonymous question: the participant row exists so that one person cannot vote twice, and handing it back through a key would undo the promise made to whoever asked.

### ErrorDetail

- `code` (string, required) — A stable machine-readable code such as `not_found`.
- `message` (string, required)
- `details` (any, optional)

### Asker

Who asked. Absent on an anonymous question: the participant row exists so that one person cannot vote twice, and handing it back through a key would undo the promise made to whoever asked.

- `participantId` (string, required)
- `displayName` (string, optional)
- `user` (User, optional) — A person in a Taktoria organization.

### User

A person in a Taktoria organization.

- `id` (string, required)
- `name` (string, required)
- `email` (string, required)
- `image` (string, optional) — Their picture: one uploaded on the account page, or else their Google profile picture, brought in when they sign in with Google.
