# Put Grade

PUT https://api.taktoria.com/api/v1/key-results/{keyResultId}/grades/{checkpoint}
Content-Type: application/json

Write one scorecard cell. A grade that changes is recorded in the
grade changes, as on the dashboard. Only checkpoints the objective's
period has are accepted. A grade moves the key result's `score`: a
**Final** grade becomes it, and another grade does while it is newer
than the latest check-in. Clearing one goes back to the rest.
`noScore: true` is the scorecard's **Reset score**: the cell is
emptied, whatever the check-ins say, and drops out of the
objective's cell and the averages, but the key result's `score` is
left alone. Setting a `score`, or sending `score: null`, undoes it.

A key may write any key result's. A signed-in session writes only
where its person may in the app: on a key result that is theirs or
one of their teams', or on any of an objective they may edit (see
`updateObjective`). Anybody else gets `403 forbidden`.

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — Bearer authentication of the form `Bearer <token>`, where token is your auth token.

## Servers

- `https://api.taktoria.com/api/v1` (Production, default)
- `http://localhost:3000/api/v1` (Local)

## Request

### Path parameters

- `keyResultId` (string, required)
- `checkpoint` (enum, required) — Where the scorecard reads a grade. A quarterly objective is read at MID (halfway through its quarter) and FINAL; an annual one at the end of Q1, Q2 and Q3, and FINAL at the end of the year.
  - Allowed values: `MID`, `Q1`, `Q2`, `Q3`, `FINAL`

### Body (application/json)

This endpoint expects a PutGradeRequest.

- `score` (double, optional, nullable)
- `noScore` (boolean, optional) — `true` resets the score: the cell is emptied, whatever the check-ins say, until a grade is set. Not with a `score`.
- `note` (string, optional, nullable)

## Response

### 200

- `keyResultId` (string, required)
- `checkpoint` (enum, required) — Where the scorecard reads a grade. A quarterly objective is read at MID (halfway through its quarter) and FINAL; an annual one at the end of Q1, Q2 and Q3, and FINAL at the end of the year.
  - Allowed values: `MID`, `Q1`, `Q2`, `Q3`, `FINAL`
- `noScore` (boolean, required) — The score was reset on the scorecard; no score, whatever the check-ins say, until a grade is set.
- `score` (double, optional) — Absent when the cell holds only a comment, its grade coming from the check-ins, or when `noScore`.
- `note` (string, optional)
- `noteById` (string, optional)
- `noteAt` (datetime, optional)
- `gradedById` (string, optional)
- `updatedAt` (datetime, optional) — Absent for a cell that holds nothing.

## Errors

### 403 Forbidden Error

Refused, and `error.code` says why. On an app's write endpoints, a signed-in session is refused `viewer_only` when the person is a Viewer of the app (they read it, and change nothing in it), and `seat_required` without a seat on it; a key is never either. Beyond those: `admin_required` when the change is an admin's (an app admin's for an app's admin powers, a workspace admin's for the workspace's settings), `forbidden` when the person may not change this one thing, `read_only_session` for a change only a key makes, `person_required` for what only a signed-in person does through their own account elsewhere (exporting a LaunchCal artifact to their docs tool), which a key cannot, `insufficient_scope` for a key without the scope, and `google_sign_in_required` for a session the workspace's Google rule turns away. Nothing was done.

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 404 Not Found Error

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 422 Validation Error

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 429 Too Many Requests Error

Rate limited (`rate_limited`): the key, the signed-in person, the workspace or an expensive endpoint's own budget is used up for now. `Retry-After` says how many seconds to wait, and `details` names the `policy`, its `limit`, `windowSeconds` and `retryAfter`. Every answer to an authenticated request carries the IETF `RateLimit-Policy` and `RateLimit` headers, so a client can slow down before it gets this. Nothing was done; wait and send it again. See "Rate limits".

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

## Types

### ErrorDetail

- `code` (string, required) — A stable machine-readable code such as `not_found`.
- `message` (string, required)
- `details` (any, optional)
