# Reorder Step Templates

POST https://api.taktoria.com/api/v1/step-templates/reorder
Content-Type: application/json

Put one launch template's steps in the order given, as **Reorder** does
in LaunchCal → Define your process. Launches take their steps in
this order when the steps are added; steps already on a launch stay
put. Returns the template's steps, not archived, in their new order.
Ids that are not all live steps of one template are a 422, and
nothing moves.

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — Bearer authentication of the form `Bearer <token>`, where token is your auth token.

## Servers

- `https://api.taktoria.com/api/v1` (Production, default)
- `http://localhost:3000/api/v1` (Local)

## Request

### Body (application/json)

This endpoint expects a ReorderStepTemplatesRequest.

- `ids` (list of string, required) — Steps of one launch template, none archived, in the order wanted. They swap places among the positions they already hold, and the template's other steps keep theirs, so a part of the order can be sent, as the app's table sends the page it shows.

## Response

### 200

- `data` (list of StepTemplate, required)

## Errors

### 403 Forbidden Error

Refused, and `error.code` says why. On an app's write endpoints, a signed-in session is refused `viewer_only` when the person is a Viewer of the app (they read it, and change nothing in it), and `seat_required` without a seat on it; a key is never either. Beyond those: `admin_required` when the change is an admin's (an app admin's for an app's admin powers, a workspace admin's for the workspace's settings), `forbidden` when the person may not change this one thing, `read_only_session` for a change only a key makes, `person_required` for what only a signed-in person does through their own account elsewhere (exporting a LaunchCal artifact to their docs tool), which a key cannot, `insufficient_scope` for a key without the scope, and `google_sign_in_required` for a session the workspace's Google rule turns away. Nothing was done.

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 422 Validation Error

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 429 Too Many Requests Error

Rate limited (`rate_limited`): the key, the signed-in person, the workspace or an expensive endpoint's own budget is used up for now. `Retry-After` says how many seconds to wait, and `details` names the `policy`, its `limit`, `windowSeconds` and `retryAfter`. Every answer to an authenticated request carries the IETF `RateLimit-Policy` and `RateLimit` headers, so a client can slow down before it gets this. Nothing was done; wait and send it again. See "Rate limits".

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

## Types

### StepTemplate

One step of a launch template, the deliberate decision about which reviews a launch needs and how long each one takes.

- `id` (string, required)
- `organizationId` (string, required)
- `launchTemplateId` (string, required) — The launch template it is a step of.
- `name` (string, required)
- `whenToUse` (enum, required) — How required a step is, from its launch template.
  - Allowed values: `EVERY_TIME`, `RECOMMENDED`, `OPTIONAL`
- `functionalTeamId` (string, required)
- `durationDays` (integer, required) — Typical duration, used to back-schedule the step from launch day.
- `sortOrder` (integer, required)
- `archived` (boolean, required)
- `functionalTeam` (TeamRef, optional) — A functional team, the group that performs one kind of review.
- `reasoning` (string, optional) — Why this step exists, and what lift it adds.
- `defaultReviewer` (User, optional) — A person in a Taktoria organization.
- `defaultReviewerUserId` (string, optional) — Who reviews it by default: when a launch's steps are added, this step starts with them as its reviewer, and they are told once the launch is published. Anyone can still choose another reviewer on the launch. Cleared when they leave the workspace.

### ErrorDetail

- `code` (string, required) — A stable machine-readable code such as `not_found`.
- `message` (string, required)
- `details` (any, optional)

### TeamRef

A functional team, the group that performs one kind of review.

- `id` (string, required)
- `name` (string, required)
- `slug` (string, required)

### User

A person in a Taktoria organization.

- `id` (string, required)
- `name` (string, required)
- `email` (string, required)
- `image` (string, optional) — Their picture: one uploaded on the account page, or else their Google profile picture, brought in when they sign in with Google.
