# Generate

POST https://api.taktoria.com/api/v1/launches/{launchId}/steps/generate

"Add launch steps" copies the steps of the launch's own launch template
(`launchTemplateId`, the workspace's default when it has none) onto
the launch, back-scheduling each step from the planned launch date, and
creates the press release, dashboard and learnings artifacts. A step
starts with its template step's default reviewer
(`defaultReviewer` on the step template) when that is still a member
of the workspace, who is told as anybody given a step is: once the
launch is published, if it is a draft. Run again,
say after the launch switches template, it adds only the steps the
launch lacks: a step it already has, or the same review (the same name
for the same functional team) from another template, is left out, and
nothing is taken away.

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — Bearer authentication of the form `Bearer <token>`, where token is your auth token.

## Servers

- `https://api.taktoria.com/api/v1` (Production, default)
- `http://localhost:3000/api/v1` (Local)

## Request

### Path parameters

- `launchId` (string, required)

## Response

### 200

- `created` (integer, required) — How many steps this call added.
- `data` (list of LaunchStep, required)

## Errors

### 403 Forbidden Error

Refused, and `error.code` says why. On an app's write endpoints, a signed-in session is refused `viewer_only` when the person is a Viewer of the app (they read it, and change nothing in it), and `seat_required` without a seat on it; a key is never either. Beyond those: `admin_required` when the change is an admin's (an app admin's for an app's admin powers, a workspace admin's for the workspace's settings), `forbidden` when the person may not change this one thing, `read_only_session` for a change only a key makes, `person_required` for what only a signed-in person does through their own account elsewhere (exporting a LaunchCal artifact to their docs tool), which a key cannot, `insufficient_scope` for a key without the scope, and `google_sign_in_required` for a session the workspace's Google rule turns away. Nothing was done.

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 404 Not Found Error

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

### 429 Too Many Requests Error

Rate limited (`rate_limited`): the key, the signed-in person, the workspace or an expensive endpoint's own budget is used up for now. `Retry-After` says how many seconds to wait, and `details` names the `policy`, its `limit`, `windowSeconds` and `retryAfter`. Every answer to an authenticated request carries the IETF `RateLimit-Policy` and `RateLimit` headers, so a client can slow down before it gets this. Nothing was done; wait and send it again. See "Rate limits".

- `error` (ErrorDetail, required)

## Types

### LaunchStep

One review or task on a launch, owned by a functional team.

- `id` (string, required)
- `launchId` (string, required)
- `name` (string, required)
- `functionalTeamId` (string, required)
- `whenToUse` (enum, required) — How required a step is, from its launch template.
  - Allowed values: `EVERY_TIME`, `RECOMMENDED`, `OPTIONAL`
- `status` (enum, required) — The approval bit on a single launch step.
  - Allowed values: `NOT_STARTED`, `IN_REVIEW`, `APPROVED`, `DENIED`, `EXCEPTION`, `NOT_APPLICABLE`
- `sortOrder` (integer, required)
- `createdAt` (datetime, required)
- `updatedAt` (datetime, required)
- `launch` (LaunchRef, optional)
- `templateId` (string, optional)
- `functionalTeam` (TeamRef, optional) — A functional team, the group that performs one kind of review.
- `reviewer` (User, optional) — A person in a Taktoria organization.
- `reviewerUserId` (string, optional) — Who reviews it, a member of the workspace; anybody else is a `422` naming the field.
- `startDate` (datetime, optional)
- `dueDate` (datetime, optional)
- `link` (string, optional) — Link to the supporting doc for this review.
- `notes` (string, optional)
- `decidedAt` (datetime, optional)
- `decisionReason` (string, optional) — Why the reviewer decided as they did, as they wrote it. Only a decided step (`APPROVED`, `DENIED`, `EXCEPTION` or `NOT_APPLICABLE`) has one; a new decision replaces it.
- `lastNudgedAt` (datetime, optional)

### ErrorDetail

- `code` (string, required) — A stable machine-readable code such as `not_found`.
- `message` (string, required)
- `details` (any, optional)

### LaunchRef

- `id` (string, required)
- `name` (string, required)
- `status` (enum, required) — Where a launch sits in its lifecycle.
  - Allowed values: `SCOPING`, `DESIGN`, `IN_DEVELOPMENT`, `TESTING`, `LAUNCHED`, `PENDING`, `ON_HOLD`

### TeamRef

A functional team, the group that performs one kind of review.

- `id` (string, required)
- `name` (string, required)
- `slug` (string, required)

### User

A person in a Taktoria organization.

- `id` (string, required)
